So many thing to write so little time

It's amazing how so many people want to be writers today. I guess they learn about famous authors and think that they can write as Flaubert, Balzac or Tolstoy. The sad part is that many of those people hardly read anything beyond magazines like People, Glamour or the Writers Digest. I know some people who say that they have read Vargas Llosa, Carlos Fuentes, Poe, Wild etc. But they don't have anything that shows they did or at least that they understood what they "read."
Well, it's not so bad since those individual are the bread of writers, philosophers and psychologists.
